Patrick Cannady - Uilleann pipes and whistles

Patrick began his piping career under the instruction of the late and much missed Al Purcell of Drumcondra, Dublin. Al was a generous and skillful teacher who took great joy in seeing his pupils succeed at the pipes, and Pat remains grateful both to Al and his family for their kindness.
In his musical journey, Pat points to a very intense week at Willy Clancy Summer School in 1999 with Pat Mitchell as a turning point "when I quit messing around and got down to business". In addition to his instruction at WCSS, Pat has had instruction from several noteworthy pipers, including Mick O'Brien, Brian McNamara, Jimmy O'Brien-Moran, and Tommy Keane. . Pat has also become a huge fan of flute, fiddle, and concertina music and finds the playing of great exponents of those instruments highly instructive.
